The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Fermín Cabrera managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pontus Veteris's supporters rose to their feet, but Fermín Cabrera was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Noya breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fermín Cabrera in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Noya prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 11th minute, Sagunto's Ramón Lozano seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Ramón Lozano the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Sagunto protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Ramón Lozano had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Nicanor Morales placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Caitano Alarcon's late challenge caught a Pontus Veteris's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Caitano Alarcon helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Pontus Veteris booed when Sagunto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caitano Alarcon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fermín Cabrera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 26 minutes into the match, Rencio Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vachon Jofre. Pontus Veteris's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rencio Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Peyo Sampil hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Julio Noya was out of position in the 32 minute of play, and Fermín Cabrera capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Fermín Cabrera really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Fermín Cabrera recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Agusti Menendez charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Agusti Menendez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Pontus Veteris getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Agusti Menendez hit a great ball. The supporters of Sagunto booed when Pontus Veteris was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fermín Cabrera didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fermín Cabrera was the one to do the kick off. Rodolfo Valerón sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Feliberto Ladra came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Pontus Veteris fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Feliberto Ladra couldn't finish the play. Rodolfo Valerón recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Feliberto Ladra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Noya having to interfere. In the 79thth minute of the game Fermín Cabrera who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sagunto's Julio Noya was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Sagunto booed when Pontus Veteris was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardo Verdaguer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fermín Cabrera in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Noya prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fermín Cabrera scored 2-1 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Noya, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 93rd minute, Peyo Sampil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pontus Veteris's Vachon Jofre proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Pontus Veteris from getting a goal against them.
