An unexpectedly hard shot by Quinton Estruch in the 45th minute of play forced Pontus Veteris's goalkeeper Vachon Jofre to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Gartzea Olle fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Izalzu's protests and gave Gartzea Olle a yellow card for diving instead. After 47 played minutes Izalzu got a freekick which was hit by Gartzea Olle. After the first half Izalzu were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
