Santa Gilia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave La Zarza the free kick. Tato Vila came out of the goal and Cristian Ferrer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 31 minutes, Bertin Landa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Santa Gilia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bertin Landa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Santa Gilia's goalkeeper Tato Vila, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Ariando De la Torre fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santa Gilia's protests and gave Ariando De la Torre a yellow card for diving instead. Ariando De la Torre hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Tato Vila was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Florin Gómez. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ladislao Diaz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Ladislao Diaz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tato Vila was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game.
