Basic united's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gerard Torrente was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Basic united. 23 minutes into the match, Basic united's goal looked a bit too open when Cebrián Vazquez came free, but Selmo Barroso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Cebrián Vazquez took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Selmo Barroso to make any attempt to save it. Joseba Carballido fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delmar Mata having to interfere. If Cebrián Vazquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gallo Montiel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Basic united's goalkeeper Selmo Barroso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Delmar Mata made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerard Torrente in the 81st minute of play. Gerard Torrente recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joseba Carballido recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gallo Montiel in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Selmo Barroso saved Basic united from getting behind. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Basic united eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
