With a little luck, Monells SD's Rubén Casillas got control of the ball when Nel Huguet tried to sneak it across the goal line. 11 minutes into the match, Ermua AD's goal looked a bit too open when Arxel Castelao came free, but Felipe Ocaña reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gabriel Quintero hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Monells SD's Estefan Correa got a free kick in the 13th minute. Nel Huguet could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Rubén Casillas made a huge save. Monells SD's Rubén Casillas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ebardo Ponte in the 18th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ebardo Ponte in the 20th minute of play forced Monells SD's goalkeeper Rubén Casillas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 28 played minutes, Monells SD's Tancredo Ladra shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Felipe Ocaña came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Monells SD reached it. Felipe Ocaña took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oriol Sauca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 31st minute of the match Estefan Correa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Felipe Ocaña showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Arxel Castelao had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 38 minutes, Arxel Castelao managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Monells SD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arxel Castelao was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Oriol Sauca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Felipe Ocaña showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oriol Sauca, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Oriol Sauca struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Felipe Ocaña didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Monells SD. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Oriol Sauca stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Ferrer Izaguirre ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rubén Casillas was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Rubén Casillas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ebardo Ponte in the 59th minute of play. After 61 played minutes Monells SD got a freekick which was hit by Placido Alfaro. Illan Durango hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Ermua AD's Felipe Ocaña proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Ermua AD from getting a goal against them. Arxel Castelao struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Felipe Ocaña didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Monells SD. Felipe Ocaña stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Oriol Sauca's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. Oriol Sauca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Ebardo Ponte managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ermua AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Ebardo Ponte was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rubén Casillas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Monells SD booed when Ermua AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romulo Pujol didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arxel Castelao got free with Felipe Ocaña in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 91 minutes of play, Ermua AD's Nel Huguet made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rubén Casillas was left in no man's land by his defense there! 96 minutes into the match, Monells SD's goal looked a bit too open when Ebardo Ponte came free, but Rubén Casillas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 99 minutes, Arxel Castelao managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Monells SD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arxel Castelao was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Monells SD's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
