In the 3rd minute, Ramón Baeza fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Feliberto Pareja, passed just outside the right post. Jorge Alcalde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Blasco Astudillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. 21 minutes into the match, Matagorda's Blasco Astudillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jorge Alcalde narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Claudio Lopez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Alcalde having to interfere. Feliberto Pareja made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Reynaldo Sabina sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Santurtzi booed when Matagorda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Blasco Astudillo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jorge Alcalde showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Blasco Astudillo in the 31st minute of the match. A collision led to Santurtzi getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Gai Orozco hit a great ball. When the match clock showed 49 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Claudio Lopez sped through Santurtzi's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jorge Alcalde. After the first half Matagorda were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ramón Baeza stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, Santurtzi's goal looked a bit too open when Claudio Lopez came free, but Jorge Alcalde reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Gai Orozco fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santurtzi's protests and gave Gai Orozco a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Santurtzi getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Gai Orozco hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the match, Matagorda's goal looked a bit too open when Reynaldo Sabina came free, but Feliberto Pareja reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 73rdth minute of the game Ramón Baeza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Matagorda's Feliberto Pareja was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paco Estrada's late challenge caught a Santurtzi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paco Estrada helped the player get up and apologised. After 89 played minutes Matagorda got a freekick which was hit by Paco Estrada. The supporters of Santurtzi booed when Matagorda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Urquijo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 100th minute of the match Rodolfo Cerreri shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Feliberto Pareja showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Matagorda eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
