Zuberoa Cuervas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Federico Casals hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Cutanda's zone, Goyo Abasalo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zuberoa Cuervas came out of the goal and Goyo Abasalo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 18 minutes into the match, El Palo AD's Goyo Abasalo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zuberoa Cuervas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Frodo De Toro scored 0-1 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlos Riba, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Cutanda's Aniceto Mera got a free kick in the 25th minute. Carlos Riba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frodo De Toro, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. When Filiberto Fernandez fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cutanda's protests and gave Filiberto Fernandez a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of El Palo AD booed when Cutanda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filiberto Fernandez didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Loren Ramirez from long distance, 36 minutes into the match, got Zuberoa Cuervas's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. A collision led to Cutanda getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Federico Casals hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Goyo Abasalo got free with Zuberoa Cuervas in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Aniceto Mera fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. After 64 played minutes Cutanda got a freekick which was hit by Aniceto Mera. In the 67thth minute of the game Goyo Abasalo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cutanda's Zuberoa Cuervas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 68th minute Belarmino Arribas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zuberoa Cuervas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 72 minutes into the match, Cutanda's goal looked a bit too open when Goyo Abasalo came free, but Zuberoa Cuervas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zuberoa Cuervas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Belarmino Arribas, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Aniceto Mera got his second yellow card in the match during the 76th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Cutanda getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Aniceto Mera hit a great ball. In the 78th minute of the match Loren Ramirez shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zuberoa Cuervas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Juanfran Ocaña sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 85 played minutes El Palo AD got a freekick which was hit by Estebano Alonso. Goyo Abasalo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Zuberoa Cuervas having to make a save. The Cutanda supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Cutanda would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
