Lluciano Bermudez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paulo Zubiaga in the 3rd minute. 5 minutes into the match, Madrid's Aldo Valdivia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lluciano Bermudez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Torcuato Vazquez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rectoria De San Pablo's supporters rose to their feet, but Torcuato Vazquez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juan-Francisco Zapata breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Torcuato Vazquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Torcuato Vazquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rectoria De San Pablo's Carlitos Sevilla got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Madrid defense, Torcuato Vazquez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Juan-Francisco Zapata. The Madrid fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Juan-Francisco Zapata should have stopped the shot. In the 37th match minute, Madrid was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduardo Carceles to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Madrid booed when Rectoria De San Pablo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Freddy Medina didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Paulo Zubiaga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
The wind increased when Torcuato Vazquez made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Torcuato Vazquez got free with Juan-Francisco Zapata in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Rectoria De San Pablo's zone, Paulo Zubiaga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lluciano Bermudez came out of the goal and Paulo Zubiaga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aldo Valdivia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Lluciano Bermudez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rectoria De San Pablo's Lluciano Bermudez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Zubiaga in the 82nd minute of play. Torcuato Vazquez struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Juan-Francisco Zapata didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rectoria De San Pablo. Madrid's defense didn't have a chance, in the 92nd minute, when Torcuato Vazquez scored to the left of an out of position Juan-Francisco Zapata, making the score, 0-2. Rectoria De San Pablo's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
