Gramuntell's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dino Vadillos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bartolo Santander blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tello Rivera having to make a save. When Ruy Villafane fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Xeresa AFC's protests and gave Ruy Villafane a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Gramuntell booed when Xeresa AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ruy Villafane didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 22 played minutes Xeresa AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ceferino Moreno. Arotza De Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Tello Rivera came out of the goal and Bartolo Santander tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ruy Villafane scored 1-1 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tello Rivera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dino Vadillos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Dimo Maroto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arotza De Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dimo Maroto having to interfere. Ximo Griful's late challenge caught a Xeresa AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ximo Griful helped the player get up and apologised. In the 72nd minute, Arotza De Silva left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gramuntell fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2.
