In the 22nd minute, Gonsalvo Zapatero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ruy Mangas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gillermo Ferrer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Heli Montaña, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Heli Montaña in the 29th minute of play forced Utebo's goalkeeper Gillermo Ferrer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wilfredo Carmona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Franco Landa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute, Ilixo Ricoy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wilfredo Carmona could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Franco Landa made a huge save. Maurin Baños blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Franco Landa having to make a save. Gillermo Ferrer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ruy Mangas in the 82nd minute. Franco Landa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maurin Baños, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Javier Alarcon hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match.
