When Asier Idiaquez fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caño Quebrado AFC's protests and gave Asier Idiaquez a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Santa Cruz De Grio booed when Caño Quebrado AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Asier Idiaquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dolfo Castellano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luis Etxeberria having to interfere. Luis Etxeberria took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zahar Serena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zahar Serena in the 21st minute of play forced Caño Quebrado AFC's goalkeeper Luis Etxeberria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rosalio Buenafuente fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artemio Valdés having to interfere. Caño Quebrado AFC's Luis Etxeberria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dolfo Castellano in the 28th minute of play. Zahar Serena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luis Etxeberria having to interfere. Rosalio Buenafuente sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 37th minute Zahar Serena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luis Etxeberria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Asier Idiaquez hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 46th minute, Santa Cruz De Grio's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Rosalio Buenafuente fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Ursino Diez's late challenge caught a Santa Cruz De Grio's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dolfo Castellano who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 73rdth minute tested the skills of Luis Etxeberria when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Caño Quebrado AFC's Hipolito Camara got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Artemio Valdés showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rosalio Buenafuente in the 75th minute of the match. Luis Etxeberria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zahar Serena, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. When Asier Idiaquez was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 81 minutes had been played. After 81 played minutes Caño Quebrado AFC got a freekick which was hit by Asier Idiaquez. 83 minutes into the match, Caño Quebrado AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Zahar Serena came free, but Luis Etxeberria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 83 played minutes Caño Quebrado AFC got a freekick which was hit by Nofre Palomares. Zahar Serena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 87 played minutes Zahar Serena rounded Caño Quebrado AFC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-1. Zahar Serena struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Luis Etxeberria didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santa Cruz De Grio. In the 97th minute Zahar Serena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luis Etxeberria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Santa Cruz De Grio supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Santa Cruz De Grio would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
