Bazil Bermejo started the match with the kick off. The attack was good, but when Oswaldo Alfaro in the 5th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Piorno Odín's late challenge caught a Salou AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Piorno Odín helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Almería FC's Piorno Odín got a free kick in the 8th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaitz Munoz in the 12th minute of play forced Salou AFC's goalkeeper Xose Colsa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Almería FC booed when Salou AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Indar Tobias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gartzen Casillas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Xose Colsa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaitz Munoz, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 25 minutes into the match, Salou AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Gartzen Casillas came free, but Xose Colsa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnaitz Munoz scored 0-2 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Xose Colsa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bazil Bermejo in the 37th minute of play forced Almería FC's goalkeeper Alonso De Pedro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Ernesto Bajo charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ernesto Bajo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ernesto Bajo hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. 54 minutes into the match, Arnaitz Munoz notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Salou AFC's Xose Colsa. Xose Colsa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Alonso De Pedro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bazil Bermejo in the 61st minute of the match. If Arnaitz Munoz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Xose Colsa was out of position in the 70 minute of play, and Arnaitz Munoz capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Arnaitz Munoz really showed his touch with that goal: 2-4. In the 76th match minute, Salou AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Belasko Sauca to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute, Salou AFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Arnaitz Munoz fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 90th minute, Arnaitz Munoz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Bazil Bermejo came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Salou AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bazil Bermejo couldn't finish the play. Alonso De Pedro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Almería FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
