The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Josep Bravo took the ball and in the 3 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Esdras Marrero. Esdras Marrero dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Esdras Marrero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romeo Cifuentes in the 7th minute of the match. 8 minutes into the game, Epifanio Villa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vilachan's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lugo the free kick. A collision led to Vilachan getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Epifanio Villa hit a great ball. Esdras Marrero was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Simon Cano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rosario Beloki in the 29th minute of the match. After 32 minutes, Austin Vadillos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lugo and the Vilachan players grew even worse after the yellow card. Austin Vadillos hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. 38 minutes into the match, Lugo's goalkeeper Simon Cano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jonas Gonzáles. In the 42nd minute, Romeo Cifuentes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Romeo Cifuentes hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Rosario Beloki was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 46th minute. Vilachan's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance.

The wind increased when Josep Bravo made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute of the match, Josep Bravo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Esdras Marrero saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. During the 63rd minute of the match Epifanio Villa completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Epifanio Villa a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Vilachan getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Epifanio Villa hit a great ball. 65 minutes into the match, Josep Bravo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Esdras Marrero, 0-3. After some careless play in the Lugo defense, Jonas Gonzáles kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Simon Cano. The Lugo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Simon Cano should have stopped the shot. If Josep Bravo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 77 minutes into the match, Vilachan's goalkeeper Esdras Marrero had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Romeo Cifuentes. Romeo Cifuentes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Esdras Marrero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Josep Bravo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lugo played a much better game than Vilachan and deserved their victory. The Vilachan players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
