The supporters of Costacabana booed when Grocin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Esdras Bermudez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Belarmino Valdivia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boni Mata having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Caton Torrent managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grocin's supporters rose to their feet, but Caton Torrent was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Natalio Munoz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 29th minute of the game. One of Costacabana:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Grocin:s goal. Natalio Munoz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caton Torrent, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Caton Torrent received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Natalio Munoz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Costacabana's goalkeeper Natalio Munoz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Esdras Bermudez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Natalio Munoz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Constantino Paz got free with Natalio Munoz in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The attack was good, but when Belarmino Valdivia in the 95th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
