In the 9th minute, Maurin Gil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th minute of the match Ormaiztegi UD got a corner. Las Casas's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Abel Rajoi ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 17th minute Maurin Gil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alonso Ocaña saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sergi Martinez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Alonso Ocaña tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Navas hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Maurin Gil managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ormaiztegi UD's supporters rose to their feet, but Maurin Gil was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alonso Ocaña breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 37 minutes into the match, Desiderio Bueno notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Ormaiztegi UD's Fernan Sacristán. Fernan Sacristán was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fernan Sacristán made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Desiderio Bueno in the 41st minute of play. Ormaiztegi UD's Fernan Sacristán played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gorka Zurica in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Sergi Martinez made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Las Casas's Gorka Zurica sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fernan Sacristán narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Las Casas booed when Ormaiztegi UD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arsenio Estruch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Desiderio Bueno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernan Sacristán having to interfere.
