An unexpectedly hard shot by Dolfos Antunez in the 6th minute of play forced Atlètic de Barcelona's goalkeeper Bladi Gala to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 6 minutes into the game, Dolfos Antunez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Bladi Gala was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Salvador Villanueva kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. If Senen Quiroga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Fernando Santander fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlètic de Barcelona's protests and gave Fernando Santander a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Colonia Afanias booed when Atlètic de Barcelona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Santander didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Colonia Afanias defense, Fernando Santander kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Horacio Munoz. The Colonia Afanias fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Horacio Munoz should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Atlètic de Barcelona getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Marco Pardo hit a great ball. After having played for 20 minutes, Fernando Santander managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlètic de Barcelona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernando Santander was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Senen Quiroga came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Atlètic de Barcelona fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Senen Quiroga couldn't finish the play. Eriberto Griego kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. If Dolfos Antunez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Colonia Afanias's Horacio Munoz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Santander in the 37th minute of play. Marco Pardo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Horacio Munoz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 41 minutes into the game, Salvador Villanueva was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Colonia Afanias's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlètic de Barcelona the free kick. A collision led to Colonia Afanias getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Salvador Villanueva hit a great ball. Horacio Munoz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Senen Quiroga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dolfos Antunez made a kick off. Fernando Santander let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 53rd minute shot 1-3 at rihgt post. Fernando Santander blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Horacio Munoz having to make a save. In the 58th minute Senen Quiroga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horacio Munoz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Atlètic de Barcelona booed when Colonia Afanias was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iosu Pareja didn't get a good kick on the ball. 66 minutes into the match, Fernando Santander had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Horacio Munoz. Colonia Afanias's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fernando Santander was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. After a defensive mix-up in Atlètic de Barcelona's zone, Anatolio Verdaguer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bladi Gala came out of the goal and Anatolio Verdaguer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 72 minutes, Fernando Santander managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlètic de Barcelona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernando Santander was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Senen Quiroga was extremely unlucky when he, in the 74th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. A collision led to Colonia Afanias getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Salvador Villanueva hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Senen Quiroga took a quick shot and it went in 1-5 without a chance for Horacio Munoz to make any attempt to save it. The crowd rose to their feet as Atlètic de Barcelona's Senen Quiroga slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Horacio Munoz. That made the score 1-6 after 86 minutes of play. Fernando Santander received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Horacio Munoz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fernando Santander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horacio Munoz having to interfere. Salvador Villanueva was shown his second yellow card after 96 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 97th minute, Salvador Villanueva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
