Xines Duarte might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cerilo Gonzalvez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Xines Duarte ran back to his position shaking his head.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alberto Maldonado was the one to do the kick off. Javali Viejo's Cerilo Gonzalvez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerardo Guerrero in the 55th minute of play. Cerilo Gonzalvez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arcadio Rosario in the 56th minute of play. 59 minutes into the game, Arcadio Rosario cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Cerilo Gonzalvez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Xines Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The Horizonte fans cheered their team off the field, for while Javali Viejo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
