The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Medardo Valines sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Los Cangrejos defense, Mariano Diaz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Felipe Puyol. The Los Cangrejos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Felipe Puyol should have stopped the shot. 21 minutes into the match, Medardo Valines had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pablo Gil. Playa De La Caleta's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Medardo Valines was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Medardo Valines took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pablo Gil. Pablo Gil dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. In the 34th minute of the match, Ricart Ponce De Leon tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Felipe Puyol saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Dorio De Toro fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Los Cangrejos's protests and gave Dorio De Toro a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Playa De La Caleta booed when Los Cangrejos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorio De Toro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute, Mariano Diaz made a precise shot to the right of Felipe Puyol. Los Cangrejos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. 43 minutes into the match, Medardo Valines notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of Playa De La Caleta's Pablo Gil. Pablo Gil was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 56th match minute, Los Cangrejos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Koldo Castellano to maneuver through the defense. Pablo Gil made an important save on a dangerous shot by Serafin Shantala in the 60th minute. In the 64th minute, Los Cangrejos's Medardo Valines dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-4. Los Cangrejos's Felipe Puyol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Diaz in the 68th minute of play. Felipe Puyol showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Diaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. 72 minutes into the game, Playa De La Caleta's Ricart Ponce De Leon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Felipe Puyol made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-4. In the 76th minute Medardo Valines shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pablo Gil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lolo Rossello hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Playa De La Caleta's zone, Medardo Valines stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pablo Gil came out of the goal and Medardo Valines tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 91st minute Medardo Valines shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pablo Gil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Medardo Valines had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
