The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sigfried Lindø received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Viggo Krejsbøl tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kongstrup SIK's Sergei Lyngbirk got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Bernhard Toelbjerg fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kongstrup SIK's protests and gave Bernhard Toelbjerg a yellow card for diving instead. In the 9th minute, Bertil Byholm got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Mickey Darville's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tor Hammerfjord was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. If Bertil Byholm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the match, Kongstrup SIK's goal looked a bit too open when Mickey Darville came free, but Tor Hammerfjord reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 25 minutes into the match, Smidstrup's goal looked a bit too open when Sigfried Lindø came free, but Viggo Krejsbøl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kongstrup SIK's Tor Hammerfjord proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Kongstrup SIK from getting a goal against them. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sigfried Lindø made a kick off. When Sergei Lyngbirk came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Kongstrup SIK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sergei Lyngbirk couldn't finish the play. In the 56th match minute, Smidstrup was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rudolf Keilstrup to maneuver through the defense. After 57 played minutes, Kongstrup SIK's Ejvin Dural shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Viggo Krejsbøl came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Kongstrup SIK reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mickey Darville in the 63rd minute of play forced Kongstrup SIK's goalkeeper Tor Hammerfjord to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 64 minutes, Sigvald Vejleby mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kongstrup SIK and the Smidstrup players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 64 played minutes Kongstrup SIK got a freekick which was hit by Sigvald Vejleby. Bertil Byholm recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kongstrup SIK's Tor Hammerfjord played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mickey Darville in the 68th minute of play. If Sergei Lyngbirk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Poul Lønsted's late challenge caught a Kongstrup SIK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Poul Lønsted helped the player get up and apologised. In the 73rd minute, Poul Lønsted hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Viggo Krejsbøl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sigfried Lindø in the 75th minute of play. In the 76th minute, Poul Lønsted hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Kongstrup SIK getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Ejvin Dural hit a great ball. After 89 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Kongstrup SIK! The referee gave Smidstrup a penalty, 90 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Troels Balla, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Kongstrup SIK's Tor Hammerfjord. 1-0. Smidstrup's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
