An unexpectedly hard shot by Bertil Overhaven in the 15th minute of play forced Mellerup's goalkeeper Paulo Weidekamp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Rudi Boken came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Sønderby SIK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rudi Boken couldn't finish the play. Jozef Flanding fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Svenne Strejby having to interfere. If Bertil Overhaven had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Sønderby SIK booed when Mellerup was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teddy Guldkvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulo Weidekamp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bertil Overhaven, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Osvald Housler fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mellerup's protests and gave Osvald Housler a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Sønderby SIK booed when Mellerup was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvald Housler didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rudi Boken was the one to do the kick off. Jozef Flanding sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Troels Stahr kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Rikki Kolter kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. In the 58th minute Jozef Flanding shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Svenne Strejby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Svenne Strejby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rikki Kolter in the 60th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rikki Kolter in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Svenne Strejby prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Paulo Weidekamp made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bertil Overhaven in the 63rd minute. A collision led to Sønderby SIK getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Bertil Overhaven hit a great ball. 68 minutes into the game, Rikki Kolter cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Svenne Strejby was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Bertil Overhaven's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 72ndth minute, Paulo Weidekamp skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After a defensive mix-up in Sønderby SIK's zone, Rikki Kolter stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Svenne Strejby came out of the goal and Rikki Kolter tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Svenne Strejby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jozef Flanding, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 83 played minutes Sønderby SIK got a freekick which was hit by Kurt Rynning. The referee felt a red card was in order, 87 minutes into the game, when Vagnar Soria put in a rough tackle. After 86 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Mellerup! When the match had been going on for 90 minutes, Sønderby SIK's Janus Hammerschmidt got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Paulo Weidekamp. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
