Scherndorf FSV's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felix Bormann was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. 22 minutes into the match, Olympia's goal looked a bit too open when Gernot Berntsen came free, but Carsten Schache reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 24th minute, Jochen Kies hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jochen Kies got free with Max Kasik in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lars Gothe made a great header on Olympia's corner, it was just that Scherndorf FSV's Max Kasik managed to reach the ball for a save. If Gernot Berntsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Max Kasik was out of position in the 43 minute of play, and Heiner Boehnke capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Heiner Boehnke really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gernot Berntsen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Olympia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lars Gothe to maneuver through the defense. Gernot Berntsen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Olympia's Carsten Schache played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonio Zapf in the 56th minute of play. Carsten Schache made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Gernot Berntsen sent off a good shot on target. Max Kasik showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jochen Kies, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. The supporters of Scherndorf FSV booed when Olympia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Bormann didn't get a good kick on the ball. Many of Scherndorf FSV's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Scherndorf FSV may have spent more time on the ball, but Olympia were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
