Alessio Mahler stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joachim Bahr's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. Ture Matthias's late challenge caught a Wattendorf's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ture Matthias helped the player get up and apologised. With his leg Alessio Mahler managed to avoid a goal in the 10thth minute, when Wattendorf's Hjalmar Halke fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. René Pulter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joachim Bahr's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alessio Mahler read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
