Carl Spanehl was out of position in the 5 minute of play, and Karl Oechsner capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Karl Oechsner really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Ole Kiehl fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carl Spanehl having to interfere. In the 11th minute, Arno Scherbaum hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 15 minutes into the game, Herbert Schmidt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Carl Spanehl was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Karl Oechsner's late challenge caught a Wallhausen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Karl Oechsner helped the player get up and apologised. After 18 played minutes Wuppertaler Sportverein got a freekick which was hit by Karl Oechsner. After 18 minutes, Erwin Stromann mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wallhausen and the Wuppertaler Sportverein players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Wallhausen's Erwin Stromann got a free kick in the 18th minute. Pekko Motzer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Endrik Brandstetter went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Wallhausen's Carl Spanehl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herbert Schmidt in the 32nd minute of play. Herbert Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Carl Spanehl tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Herbert Schmidt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Herbert Schmidt, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 41 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Carl Spanehl was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Herbert Schmidts short, quick shot in the 45thth minute got Carl Spanehl to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Endrik Brandstetter stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. During the 52nd minute of the match Erwin Stromann completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Erwin Stromann a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 53rd minute, Erwin Stromann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wuppertaler Sportverein's Herbert Schmidt couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 54th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Wallhausen. Karl Oechsner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Carl Spanehl tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 60 minutes, Ole Kiehl managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wuppertaler Sportverein's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ole Kiehl was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 61st match minute, Wallhausen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arno Scherbaum to maneuver through the defense. Herbert Schmidt struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Carl Spanehl didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wuppertaler Sportverein. 64 minutes into the match, Karl Oechsner had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carl Spanehl. Wallhausen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Karl Oechsner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Wuppertaler Sportverein's Ole Kiehl got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carl Spanehl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herbert Schmidt in the 75th minute of play. 80 minutes into the match, Toni Lank had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pekko Motzer. Wuppertaler Sportverein's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Toni Lank was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Herbert Schmidt in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carl Spanehl saved Wallhausen from getting behind. When Ole Kiehl came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Wuppertaler Sportverein fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ole Kiehl couldn't finish the play. Marcio Appel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Carl Spanehl tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
