Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Joerg-Uwe Donkels took the kick off in the first half of the match. Konstantin Bardhan hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Cornelius Wolff came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Wuppertaler Sportverein's Ole Kiehl. But to his dismay, Ole Kiehl quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 26th minute Konstantin Bardhan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornelius Wolff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cornelius Wolff took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herbert Schmidt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Wuppertaler Sportverein's Boris Grooten got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Cornelius Wolff showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herbert Schmidt, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 43rd minute, Herbert Schmidt ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cornelius Wolff was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. After 47 minutes of play, Wuppertaler Sportverein's Herbert Schmidt made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cornelius Wolff was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Herbert Schmidt was the one to do the kick off. Cornelius Wolff made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Herbert Schmidt sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Brexel's zone, Ole Kiehl stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cornelius Wolff came out of the goal and Ole Kiehl tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Brexel's Bülent Bartl got a free kick in the 60th minute. In the 62nd minute, Konstantin Bardhan made a precise shot to the right of Cornelius Wolff. Brexel's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. Brexel were furious when Toni Niederkirchner was red carded, 77 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Herbert Schmidt shot from long distance after 79 played minutes, a shot that Cornelius Wolff with certain difficulty stopped from going in under the crossbar. After having played for 82 minutes, Karl Oechsner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wuppertaler Sportverein's supporters crossed their fingers, but Karl Oechsner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cornelius Wolff didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Herbert Schmidt went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-7 was the resulting score. In the 89th minute, Herbert Schmidt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 91st minute of the match, Herbert Schmidt tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Cornelius Wolff saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Herbert Schmidt received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Cornelius Wolff came out and tried to block the shot, but Herbert Schmidt slotted it home off the left post making it 0-8 in the 95th minute. Wuppertaler Sportverein played a much better game than Brexel and deserved their victory. The Brexel players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
