Joseph Obladen was a little too slow when Ennio Peleikis got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 10th minute. The score was now 1-0. If Dirk Rissmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Christian Holzfuß received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Joseph Obladen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dirk Rissmann got free with Joseph Obladen in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Christian Holzfuß received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Joseph Obladen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 26 minutes, Ennio Peleikis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Düzce's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ennio Peleikis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dirk Rissmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ennio Peleikis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joseph Obladen having to interfere. In the 35th match minute, FC Düzce was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harald Ballstein to maneuver through the defense. Christian Holzfuß fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joseph Obladen having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Dirk Rissmann put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Joseph Obladen. In the 56th match minute, Hertha BSC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stephan Irmscher to maneuver through the defense. Christian Holzfuß sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Joseph Obladen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dirk Rissmann's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dirk Rissmann in the 64th minute of play forced Hertha BSC's goalkeeper Joseph Obladen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joseph Obladen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christian Holzfuß in the 68th minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Hertha BSC's goal looked a bit too open when Christian Holzfuß came free, but Joseph Obladen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Hertha BSC's zone, Ennio Peleikis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joseph Obladen came out of the goal and Ennio Peleikis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 87th minute of the game. One of Hertha BSC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Düzce:s goal. The referee gave FC Düzce a penalty, 88 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ennio Peleikis, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Hertha BSC's Joseph Obladen. 4-0. 94 minutes into the match, Dirk Rissmann had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joseph Obladen. Hertha BSC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dirk Rissmann was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC Düzce fully deserved thier win.
