The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 8 minutes in the game, Walther Wendland fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Leo Meinhardt having to interfere. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lautzert's goalkeeper Leo Meinhardt, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Reno Buchholz in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Piet Bohmann prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reno Buchholz in the 21st minute of play forced Spechtshof's goalkeeper Piet Bohmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Lautzert booed when Spechtshof was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henning Mulder didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tobias Wieland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Piet Bohmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leo Meinhardt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hermann Antwerpes, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. 42 minutes into the match, Lautzert's goalkeeper Leo Meinhardt had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Walther Wendland. Reno Buchholz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Piet Bohmann having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hermann Antwerpes to make the kick off. Walther Wendland struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Leo Meinhardt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Spechtshof. In the 59th match minute, Spechtshof was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jon Limburg to maneuver through the defense. Reno Buchholz's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Piet Bohmann firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 67th minute Walther Wendland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leo Meinhardt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Walther Wendland put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Leo Meinhardt. In the 72ndth minute of the game Hermann Antwerpes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lautzert's Leo Meinhardt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Walther Wendland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leo Meinhardt having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Walther Wendland managed to get in a good position for a shot. Spechtshof's supporters rose to their feet, but Walther Wendland was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leo Meinhardt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tobias Wieland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 86 minutes, Reno Buchholz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lautzert's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reno Buchholz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Piet Bohmann was a little too slow when Tobias Wieland got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 87th minute. The score was now 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Walther Wendland in the 95th minute of play forced Lautzert's goalkeeper Leo Meinhardt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 97th minute Spechtshof were awarded a corner. Ehrhard Ullrich went to the cornerflag to take it. Spechtshof's Ehrhard Ullrich was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Leo Meinhardt in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
