Paolo Mihm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andy Krehl, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Otter's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in FENERBAHCEM's zone, Daniel Veiser stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Friedemann Drenks came out of the goal and Daniel Veiser tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Dominik Glockner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paolo Mihm made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dominik Glockner in the 29th minute. After 29 played minutes Otter got a freekick which was hit by Achim Winkler. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind FENERBAHCEM's goalkeeper Friedemann Drenks, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Otter's Daniel Veiser in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FENERBAHCEM's goalie prevented a goal. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Andy Krehl to strike the kick off in the second half. Daniel Veiser fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Friedemann Drenks having to interfere. Friedemann Drenks showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wolfgang Böhland in the 55th minute of the match. The FENERBAHCEM fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Friedemann Drenks should have stopped the shot. Otter's Wolfgang Böhland got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Veiser fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Friedemann Drenks having to interfere.
