After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Dennis Quint managed to get in a good position for a shot. SG WEST's supporters rose to their feet, but Dennis Quint was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Willi Söbbe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Friedemann Koller showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rainier Braun, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Thorsten Kutzmutz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Dennis Quint kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Willi Söbbe. That made the score 1-0 in the 30 minute of play. After a rather tough play, SG WEST's Franz Schrembs got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Rainier Braun's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Friedemann Koller read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Friedemann Koller stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rainier Braun's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. In the 46th minute Thorsten Kutzmutz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Friedemann Koller saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dennis Quint to make the kick off. Henrik Carl fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Willi Söbbe having to interfere. If Dennis Quint had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The SG WEST fans cheered their team off the field, for while Werries had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
