But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ulrich Herrmann couldn't finish the play. Didier Thom could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Kay Rudinsky made a huge save. After recieving a nice pass, Hochgreut's Roland Scherlitz tried to score from far away in the 16th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Didier Thom could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Kay Rudinsky made a huge save. If Anatol Altmüller had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Didier Thom got free with Kay Rudinsky in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ulrich Herrmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kay Rudinsky having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anatol Altmüller in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Guillaume Wottka saved Hochgreut from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Didier Thom got free with Kay Rudinsky in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

A collision led to Heskem getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Harry Bleiziffer hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the match, Hochgreut's goal looked a bit too open when Marinus Stenz came free, but Guillaume Wottka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kay Rudinsky showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Didier Thom in the 65th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Heskem's Ratko Weidenbach got a free kick in the 65th minute. Didier Thom took the ball and in the 68 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kay Rudinsky. Kay Rudinsky dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Kay Rudinsky made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Didier Thom in the 74th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ratko Weidenbach during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ratko Weidenbach received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Guillaume Wottka came out and tried to block the shot, but Ratko Weidenbach slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 80th minute. In the 84th minute, Didier Thom got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kay Rudinsky showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ulrich Herrmann in the 89th minute of the match. In the 91st minute Ulrich Herrmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kay Rudinsky saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Didier Thom's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kay Rudinsky was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Didier Thom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Kay Rudinsky tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Despite being the better team, Hochgreut failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
