The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ismael Pirkner's late challenge caught a Gelb Rot lions's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ismael Pirkner helped the player get up and apologised. In the 5th minute, Ismael Pirkner hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Heiko Fischer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caspar Fandel, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Dirk Kokott received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Heiko Kerber tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Pitt Fleischer came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Werzlen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pitt Fleischer couldn't finish the play. Gelb Rot lions's Heiko Fischer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Gelb Rot lions from getting a goal against them. If Pitt Fleischer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caspar Fandel in the 24th minute of play forced Gelb Rot lions's goalkeeper Heiko Fischer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 1-0 became the score in the 27th minute when Pitt Fleischer elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Pitt Fleischer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Gelb Rot lions's Sébastien Meininger got a free kick in the 36th minute. The audience was convinced that Dirk Kokott's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Heiko Kerber was relentless in the 47th minute of the game.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Caspar Fandel to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Werzlen's goalkeeper Heiko Kerber had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dirk Kokott. The supporters of Gelb Rot lions booed when Werzlen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ismael Pirkner didn't get a good kick on the ball. Caspar Fandel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Heiko Fischer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. If Caspar Fandel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Werzlen's Karsten Päßler got a free kick in the 69th minute. Gelb Rot lions's Dirk Kokott got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caspar Fandel in the 81st minute of play forced Gelb Rot lions's goalkeeper Heiko Fischer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Achim Neustadt kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. The attack was good, but when Pitt Fleischer in the 85th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. 86 minutes into the match, Gelb Rot lions's goal looked a bit too open when Caspar Fandel came free, but Heiko Fischer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 89thth minute of the game Pitt Fleischer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gelb Rot lions's Heiko Fischer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 95th minute, Werzlen's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ehrhard Hermbusch fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Werzlen fans cheered their team off the field, for while Gelb Rot lions had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
