The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. FC Yürrübe's Jürgen Melchert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rasmus Marschner in the 7th minute of play. Karel Sigrist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Hendrik Nelsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 13 minutes, Tyron Lux mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Yürrübe and the Die Fohlenelf players grew even worse after the yellow card. Tyron Lux kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute, Tyron Lux got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Johnny Lingemann recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 29th minute, Karel Sigrist got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 32nd minute, Rasmus Marschner got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paolo von Platen struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Jürgen Melchert didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Die Fohlenelf. The supporters of Die Fohlenelf booed when FC Yürrübe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudius Fromme didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jürgen Melchert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rasmus Marschner in the 38th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Georg Keussen in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jürgen Melchert saved FC Yürrübe from getting behind. After 42 played minutes FC Yürrübe got a freekick which was hit by Dolf Stober. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Karel Sigrist to strike the kick off in the second half. Johnny Lingemann's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jürgen Melchert read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. A collision led to FC Yürrübe getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Christof Grabowski hit a great ball. Johnny Lingemann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jürgen Melchert having to interfere. Tyron Lux received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Hendrik Nelsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Die Fohlenelf's Hendrik Nelsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karel Sigrist in the 72nd minute of play. If Rasmus Marschner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tyron Lux sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 82 minutes, Rasmus Marschner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Die Fohlenelf's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rasmus Marschner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karel Sigrist in the 85th minute of play forced Die Fohlenelf's goalkeeper Hendrik Nelsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 86 minutes into the game, Paolo von Platen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Die Fohlenelf's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Yürrübe the free kick. The supporters of FC Yürrübe booed when Die Fohlenelf was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paolo von Platen didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 88 minutes of play, FC Yürrübe's Karel Sigrist made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hendrik Nelsen was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 92nd minute, Johnny Lingemann fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jürgen Melchert, passed just outside the right post. FC Yürrübe's Jürgen Melchert proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save FC Yürrübe from getting a goal against them. For all the effort they put into the match, the Die Fohlenelf players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for FC Yürrübe.
