Kai Behlau breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to SV Bännjerrück getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Donald Plaaten hit a great ball. After having played for 33 minutes, Franz Maiwald managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grüsen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Franz Maiwald was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Franz Maiwald struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Fritz Forst didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grüsen. Fritz Forst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arne Breuninger in the 38th minute of play. In the 38th minute, Ulf Spanknebel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Arne Breuninger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arne Breuninger might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fritz Forst. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arne Breuninger ran back to his position shaking his head.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arne Breuninger was the one to do the kick off. After 68 minutes of play, SV Bännjerrück's Johannes Berresch made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kai Behlau was left in no man's land by his defense there! Franz Maiwald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. The supporters of Grüsen booed when SV Bännjerrück was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Moll didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fritz Forst stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Franz Maiwald's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. In the 80th minute Fabio Bentin suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 80 minutes into the game, Martin Moll was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SV Bännjerrück's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grüsen the free kick. In the 81st match minute, SV Bännjerrück was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Moll to maneuver through the defense. The Grüsen supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching SV Bännjerrück's performance. The match ended with a win for SV Bännjerrück.
