Grüsen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fenerbahçe the free kick. The supporters of Fenerbahçe booed when Grüsen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erich Haldenwanger didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Fenerbahçe getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Stephan Bismarck hit a great ball. In the 11th minute, Roman Harth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Laurent Stapel made a great header on Fenerbahçe's corner, it was just that Grüsen's Kai Behlau managed to reach the ball for a save. After 23 minutes, Tim Müller made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Grüsen's Kai Behlau tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Stephan Bismarck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Kai Behlau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The coaching staff of Fenerbahçe protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Bastian Nathmann had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Bastian Nathmann hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. In the 33rd minute, Arne Breuninger got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 35th minute Eddy Chef shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kai Behlau saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andi Weretecki sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arne Breuninger made a kick off. If Eddy Chef had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Grüsen defense, Eddy Chef kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kai Behlau. The Grüsen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kai Behlau should have stopped the shot. Andi Weretecki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kai Behlau having to interfere. Fenerbahçe's Dietmar Brink got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 77 minutes, Roman Harth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fenerbahçe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roman Harth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 92nd minute, Andi Weretecki got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fenerbahçe's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
