Springhorn's Balthasar Merk quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Luka Grunert, made in the 22nd minute of the game. Julius Dierking stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Friedo Koppelberg's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Friedo Koppelberg did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Julius Dierking 25 minutes into the match. If Reinhard Volz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Springhorn's Friedo Koppelberg got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julius Dierking was a little too slow when Friedo Koppelberg got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 33rd minute. The score was now 2-0. Friedo Koppelberg in the 36thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julius Dierking, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Friedo Koppelberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 41 played minutes, Düddingen's Egil Felchle shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Heiko Hocke came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Düddingen reached it. 44 minutes in the game, Reinhard Volz fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Julius Dierking having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

After 53 played minutes Springhorn got a freekick which was hit by Sören Nonnenmacher. Heiko Hocke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jörg Illing, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Friedo Koppelberg took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julius Dierking. Julius Dierking dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. If Sören Nonnenmacher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jan Kliemt took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 66th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julius Dierking. Düddingen's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Julius Dierking showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Friedo Koppelberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. In the 71st minute, Axel Stollenwerk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 72 minutes, Gunter Thome mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Springhorn and the Düddingen players grew even worse after the yellow card. The coaching staff of Springhorn protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jan Kliemt had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 83rd match minute, Springhorn was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jan Kliemt to maneuver through the defense. In the 84th minute of the match Istvan Møller shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Heiko Hocke showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Erhard Jagemann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Erhard Jagemann came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Springhorn fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erhard Jagemann couldn't finish the play. Springhorn's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
