Marcus Blenkle came out of the goal and Heinz Schüten tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Roman Zeil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Welkers's Marcus Blenkle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Heinz Schüten in the 15th minute of play. Edmund Seidel hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edmund Seidel during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Roman Zeil might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcus Blenkle. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcus Blenkle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 32nd match minute, FC Dinamo Bucuresti 1948 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pascal Kleppe to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Welkers's Wilhelm Brünemann tried to score from far away in the 33rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Marcus Blenkle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roman Zeil, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After a defensive mix-up in FC Dinamo Bucuresti 1948's zone, Fortunato Conrad stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Helmar Boes came out of the goal and Fortunato Conrad tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute, Fortunato Conrad got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Heinz Schüten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leonardo Spanner stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
