Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Ludwig Labouvie took the kick off in the first half of the match. Björn Hanebuth struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Alf Harder didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Kickers. Björn Hanebuth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alf Harder having to interfere. Alf Harder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ludwig Labouvie in the 8th minute of play. A collision led to SV Gengenbach getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Johann Todzi hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ludwig Labouvie in the 15th minute of play forced SV Gengenbach's goalkeeper Alf Harder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 17 minutes, Björn Hanebuth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Kickers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Björn Hanebuth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 19 minutes into the game, Erhard Haye de la cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Fritz Baruch was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Detlef Herrmann hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Erhard Haye de la fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fritz Baruch having to interfere. FC Kickers's Fritz Baruch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anno Ollert in the 29th minute of play. FC Kickers's Ludwig Labouvie got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alf Harder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ludwig Labouvie in the 33rd minute of play. The supporters of FC Kickers booed when SV Gengenbach was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Johann Todzi didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute, Romano Krick hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Erhard Haye de la to make the kick off. Björn Hanebuth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 59 minutes into the match, SV Gengenbach's goal looked a bit too open when Ludwig Labouvie came free, but Alf Harder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 60th match minute, SV Gengenbach was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oskar Greilinger to maneuver through the defense. Alf Harder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ludwig Labouvie, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Ludwig Labouvie took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alf Harder. Alf Harder dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Fritz Baruch was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Erhard Haye de la showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 77 minute of play. When Björn Hanebuth came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the FC Kickers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Björn Hanebuth couldn't finish the play. In the 84th minute Detlef Herrmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alf Harder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Erhard Haye de la came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the SV Gengenbach fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erhard Haye de la couldn't finish the play. After 89 played minutes FC Kickers got a freekick which was hit by Gilbert Ullmann. Anno Ollert's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fritz Baruch read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. The SV Gengenbach supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing SV Gengenbach would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
