The audience was convinced that Laurenz Hertel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Boris Finke was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. The referee ignored FC Weser Bremen's protests and gave Kristian Sichelstiel a yellow card for diving instead. After 35 played minutes FC Weser Bremen got a freekick which was hit by Kristian Sichelstiel. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Ralph Scheiba managed to get in a good position for a shot. Spriestersbach FSV's supporters rose to their feet, but Ralph Scheiba was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boris Finke breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
