After having played for 4 minutes, Gernot Häfner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Underdog United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gernot Häfner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Simon Jagnow struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Evert Fritsche didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Underdog United. Merten Propst fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evert Fritsche having to interfere. Klemens Lehmer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 20th match minute, FC Bayern Regensburg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roland Eggeling to maneuver through the defense. Evert Fritsche showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miklos Epp, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. After a rather tough play, FC Bayern Regensburg's Markus Katzwinkel got a free kick in the 23rd minute. FC Bayern Regensburg's Evert Fritsche played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Semjon Pentz in the 24th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Simon Jagnow in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Evert Fritsche saved FC Bayern Regensburg from getting behind. After 26 played minutes FC Bayern Regensburg got a freekick which was hit by Jakob Baston. Gernot Häfner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Evert Fritsche tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Underdog United's Gernot Häfner got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Underdog United's Olaf Brei played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Udo Maaßen in the 39th minute of play. In the 45th minute Merten Propst shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evert Fritsche saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Underdog United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Bayern Regensburg the free kick. After 61 played minutes, FC Bayern Regensburg's Roland Eggeling shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Olaf Brei came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Bayern Regensburg reached it. Underdog United's Olaf Brei played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albrecht Eilenfeldt in the 63rd minute of play. When Simon Jagnow came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Underdog United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Simon Jagnow couldn't finish the play. Evert Fritsche came out of the goal and Gernot Häfner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Merten Propst received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Evert Fritsche tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Simon Jagnow who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 87thth minute tested the skills of Evert Fritsche when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Merten Propst had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th minute, Merten Propst got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Underdog United played a much better game than FC Bayern Regensburg and deserved their victory. The FC Bayern Regensburg players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
