An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolfo Stiegler in the 14th minute of play forced Edemissen's goalkeeper Ricardo Wirkner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Michael Bruske recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mel Schnarr sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bartholomäus Brink fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Wirkner having to interfere. Ricardo Wirkner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Stiegler in the 23rd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Rodolfo Stiegler took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Ricardo Wirkner to make any attempt to save it. Eintracht Frankfurt's supporters rose to their feet, but Rodolfo Stiegler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Wirkner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rodolfo Stiegler to strike the kick off in the second half. If Altin Hallerbach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 56th minute by Michael Bruske got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Edemissen's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
