The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Kurt Matthies received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Gerd Eduard Thomas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Walter Wilhelmsen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucien Schabbing, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. In the 15th minute, Florian Klamt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Kurt Matthies sped through Schambach FSV's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gerd Eduard Thomas. Lucien Schabbing sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arik Hülsens short, quick shot in the 35thth minute got Walter Wilhelmsen to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Schambach FSV's Lucien Schabbing got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Florian Klamt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerd Eduard Thomas having to interfere. When Uwe Michalke fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Schambach FSV's protests and gave Uwe Michalke a yellow card for diving instead. After 40 played minutes Schambach FSV got a freekick which was hit by Uwe Michalke. In the 46th minute Kurt Matthies shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerd Eduard Thomas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lucien Schabbing was the one to do the kick off. Kurt Matthies could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Gerd Eduard Thomas made a huge save. Gerd Eduard Thomas had great luck who in the 62ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Florian Klamt from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. After a rather tough play, Freudenholm's Frederik Termeer got a free kick in the 69th minute. If Lucien Schabbing had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Utz Böck charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Utz Böck the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Arik Hülsen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Walter Wilhelmsen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arik Hülsen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kurt Matthies scored 1-4 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gerd Eduard Thomas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Freudenholm had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
