An unexpected shot in the 3rd minute by Michael Frings got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of Geitendorf FSV booed when Witteborg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tristan Gennburg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Günter Zilly showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timo Diesterhöft, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Michael Frings during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Michael Frings kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Karsten Hendricks's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Günter Zilly read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Witteborg's Kemal Joosten got a free kick in the 19th minute. In the 21st minute, Timo Diesterhöft got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Günter Zilly made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kemal Joosten in the 23rd minute of play. After having played for 26 minutes, Kemal Joosten managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Witteborg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kemal Joosten was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Witteborg's Ivar Kathan got control of the ball when Michael Frings tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ivar Kathan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Michael Frings in the 31st minute. Ivar Kathan made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Michael Frings sent off a good shot on target.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adrian Hofstetter to make the kick off. Adrian Hofstetter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivar Kathan having to interfere. In the 71st minute, Kemal Joosten fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Günter Zilly, passed just outside the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harold Sachse in the 72nd minute of play forced Geitendorf FSV's goalkeeper Günter Zilly to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 75 minutes into the game, Timo Diesterhöft cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Günter Zilly was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 79th minute of the game. One of Geitendorf FSV:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Witteborg:s goal. Timo Diesterhöft was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 85th minute. Witteborg's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Timo Diesterhöft struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Günter Zilly didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Witteborg. Geitendorf FSV's Waldemar Behrens got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 91st match minute, Witteborg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harold Sachse to maneuver through the defense. The Witteborg players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
