Raimar Gronau was slow to take the kick. During this time Völlen FC's players had a chance to rest. Jörg Lüdemann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hans-Hermann Köstner having to interfere. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Klaus Gumpfer was the one to do the kick off. Witold Protzel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Through an outstanding action, after 71 minutes, Jan Kremers successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post.
