A collision led to Lokomotive Leipzig getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Lucien Mauer hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Charlie Mücke managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lokomotive Leipzig's supporters rose to their feet, but Charlie Mücke was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Neuling breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Lokomotive Leipzig's Josef Zielonka in the 7th minute got a chance for a shot 7th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bökenbusch's goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Josef Zielonka in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck David Neuling prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 12 minutes, Charlie Mücke managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lokomotive Leipzig's supporters crossed their fingers, but Charlie Mücke was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Lokomotive Leipzig booed when Bökenbusch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carl Schnarrenberger didn't get a good kick on the ball. David Neuling showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charlie Mücke in the 14th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nico Kästel got free with Till Poll in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 17 minutes into the match, Lokomotive Leipzig's goalkeeper Till Poll had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nico Kästel. Nico Kästel who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 18thth minute tested the skills of Till Poll when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Nico Kästel came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Bökenbusch fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nico Kästel couldn't finish the play. Fabian Seisler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Till Poll tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 24 minutes into the match, Lokomotive Leipzig's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Seisler came free, but Till Poll reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fabian Seisler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 30 played minutes Lokomotive Leipzig got a freekick which was hit by Werner Fock. Lokomotive Leipzig's Till Poll proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Lokomotive Leipzig from getting a goal against them. In the 33rd minute Gerald Stockbauer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Neuling saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dirk-Justus Höpfner hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. In the 46th minute of the match Gerald Stockbauer sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but David Neuling skillfully saved the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Josef Zielonka made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Bökenbusch booed when Lokomotive Leipzig was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jakob Ziffzer didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 56th minute Nico Kästel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Till Poll saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Lokomotive Leipzig defense, Nico Kästel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Till Poll. The Lokomotive Leipzig fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Till Poll should have stopped the shot. David Neuling was out of position in the 61 minute of play, and Josef Zielonka capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Josef Zielonka really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. 64 minutes in the game, Josef Zielonka fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without David Neuling having to interfere. Werner Fock hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Karsten Behrens succeeded in the game's 68th minute to get real power on a long shot . Lokomotive Leipzig's Till Poll hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 2-1! Dirk-Justus Höpfner hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Nico Kästel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 82 played minutes Bökenbusch got a freekick which was hit by Marco Mouratidis. When Charlie Mücke, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 83 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The David Neuling was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Josef Zielonka's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but David Neuling was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Lokomotive Leipzig's Josef Zielonka slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of David Neuling. That made the score 2-2 after 87 minutes of play. Josef Zielonka fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Neuling having to interfere. Charlie Mücke could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but David Neuling made a huge save. When Zeno Schilde fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bökenbusch's protests and gave Zeno Schilde a yellow card for diving instead. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
