Hermann Scheinert took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 2nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Henning Koss. Pixel's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Reinhard Lamwersiek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Reinhard Lamwersiek received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Henning Koss tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Willy Pisula fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronnie Wirtz having to interfere. Burkhard Wielert might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Henning Koss. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Burkhard Wielert ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silvester Betzmann during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Burkhard Wielert to strike the kick off in the second half. Armin Olbrich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henning Koss having to interfere. 60 minutes into the match, Langhögl's goal looked a bit too open when Focke Haintz came free, but Ronnie Wirtz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Reinhard Lamwersiek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 67 minutes, Willy Pisula took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Ronnie Wirtz to make any attempt to save it. After 71 played minutes Pixel got a freekick which was hit by Rüdiger Banz. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Reinhard Lamwersiek in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Henning Koss saved Pixel from getting behind. Reinhard Lamwersiek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henning Koss having to interfere. Reinhard Lamwersiek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Burkhard Wielert in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Henning Koss prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Burkhard Wielert in the 87th minute of play forced Pixel's goalkeeper Henning Koss to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Reinhard Lamwersiek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 92nd match minute, Pixel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Errol Eisele to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reinhard Lamwersiek in the 94th minute of play forced Pixel's goalkeeper Henning Koss to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
