Nikolaus Männel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Batho Söldner in the 9th minute of the match. In the 11th minute Batho Söldner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nikolaus Männel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Oliver Stradinger during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Holzgerlingen FSV's Batho Söldner in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The wind increased when Ralf Leßing made the kick off in the second half. When Elmar Vogel came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Esch fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elmar Vogel couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Esch's zone, Batho Söldner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nikolaus Männel came out of the goal and Batho Söldner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 61 minutes into the match, Holzgerlingen FSV's Lars Binninger sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nikolaus Männel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Tino Winitzki fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Esch's protests and gave Tino Winitzki a yellow card for diving instead. The referee felt a red card was in order, 66 minutes into the game, when Jens-Uwe Passmann put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Esch fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 66th minute. Penalty! In the 68th minute there was a penalty for Holzgerlingen FSV. Fred Seehofer stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Nikolaus Männel. 1-0. Lars Binninger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Binninger in the 74th minute of play forced Esch's goalkeeper Nikolaus Männel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Esch's goalkeeper Nikolaus Männel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 81 minutes had been played when some careless play by Holzgerlingen FSV's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Andreas Tuke was slow to take the kick. During this time Esch's players had a chance to rest. It was a well-played corner which Tino Winitzki managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 83rd match minute, Holzgerlingen FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Helmar Freemann to maneuver through the defense. Sigurd Berthelé recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nikolaus Männel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Batho Söldner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 91 minutes into the match, Batho Söldner had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nikolaus Männel. Esch's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Batho Söldner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Lars Binninger's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nikolaus Männel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. If Helmar Freemann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee ended the match the Holzgerlingen FSV players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
