Wayne Schlagbauer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dierk Demelbauer in the 6th minute of play. Niklaus Schubert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thomas Ballheim, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Gustav Schabbel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wayne Schlagbauer. Ballstedt's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gustav Schabbel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Mathias Michael Bechstein scored 0-3 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wayne Schlagbauer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Niklaus Schubert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tom Trachsel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thomas Ballheim might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Niklaus Schubert. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Thomas Ballheim ran back to his position shaking his head. Thomas Ballheim struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Niklaus Schubert didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ballstedt. 35 minutes into the match, Gustav Schabbel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wayne Schlagbauer. Ballstedt's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gustav Schabbel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Mauritz Sakellariou kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Wayne Schlagbauer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Derek Mrozik in the 42nd minute of the match. Ballstedt's Wayne Schlagbauer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustav Schabbel in the 43rd minute of play. Niklaus Schubert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oleg Hemmerlein, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gustav Schabbel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the game, Berge United's Derek Mrozik nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wayne Schlagbauer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. Helmut Fuchs recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 62nd minute, Oleg Hemmerlein left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ballstedt fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. Wayne Schlagbauer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mathias Michael Bechstein, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. If Helmut Fuchs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ballstedt's Oleg Hemmerlein suffered a sore thigh after 69 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ingmar Beimes during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Berge United's Ingmar Beimes got a free kick in the 71st minute. In the 72nd minute Ali Ertan Schenck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niklaus Schubert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With 85 minutes on the clock, Franz Gravius commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 84th minute of the game. One of Ballstedt:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Berge United:s goal. Karol Gütermann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ali Ertan Schenck in the 93rd minute of play forced Berge United's goalkeeper Niklaus Schubert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Derek Mrozik managed to get in a good position for a shot. Berge United's supporters rose to their feet, but Derek Mrozik was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wayne Schlagbauer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Helmut Fuchs kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match. The Berge United supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Berge United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
