If Hans Lehnecke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Hasso Rauh didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when 1. FC Nürnberg's Pekko Blenke shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-1 in the ordered_time% minute. After 18 played minutes 1. FC Nürnberg got a freekick which was hit by Pekko Blenke. 19 minutes into the game, Karl Böcker was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Benteler FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave 1. FC Nürnberg the free kick. The audience was convinced that Hans Lehnecke's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hasso Rauh was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. Hasso Rauh stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jörg Dudek's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. 26 minutes into the match, Benteler FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hans Lehnecke came free, but Hasso Rauh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th match minute, 1. FC Nürnberg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enno Jittler to maneuver through the defense. If Pekko Blenke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rasmus Boxmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alfonso Lendemans recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ulrik Scheer was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Rasmus Boxmann showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 42 minute of play. 46 minutes into the game, Jörg Dudek cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Hasso Rauh was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rasmus Boxmann was the one to do the kick off. Benjamin Frenck kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Alfonso Lendemans recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rasmus Boxmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Ulrik Scheer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rasmus Boxmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulrik Scheer having to interfere. Hajo Ziegler kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. A collision led to Benteler FC getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Karl Böcker hit a great ball. Hasso Rauh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hans Lehnecke in the 64th minute of play. The Benteler FC fans' excitement grew in the 72nd match minute when Benteler FC's Rasmus Boxmann looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Benteler FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Jörg Dudek 78 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-3. With a little luck, Benteler FC's Hasso Rauh got control of the ball when Hans Lehnecke tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 82 minutes, Klemens Abel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Benteler FC and the 1. FC Nürnberg players grew even worse after the yellow card. 1. FC Nürnberg's Hans Lehnecke got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to 1. FC Nürnberg getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Pekko Blenke hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Alfonso Lendemans managed to get in a good position for a shot. Benteler FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfonso Lendemans was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulrik Scheer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rasmus Boxmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hans Lehnecke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Hasso Rauh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Arik Bruhnke came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the 1. FC Nürnberg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arik Bruhnke couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched 1. FC Nürnberg eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
