Stefan Breiffel started the match with the kick off. Faruk Smieskol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gero Partsch in the 4th minute of play. Lothar Heim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pöting FC's Faruk Smieskol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gero Partsch in the 11th minute of play. The supporters of FC Bayern München booed when Pöting FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egbert Heinen didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gero Partsch in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Faruk Smieskol saved Pöting FC from getting behind. Stefan Breiffel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faruk Smieskol having to interfere. Gero Partsch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Faruk Smieskol tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ewald Blumenthal during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 32 played minutes FC Bayern München got a freekick which was hit by Ewald Blumenthal. FC Bayern München's Arnold Bauer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raphael Versteeg in the 34th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Harm Schlüter during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee gave FC Bayern München a penalty, 37 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jo Bachmann, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Pöting FC's Faruk Smieskol. 0-1. Gero Partsch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Faruk Smieskol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stefan Breiffel in the 48th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alwin Felden to make the kick off. Gero Partsch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faruk Smieskol having to interfere. Stefan Breiffel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Faruk Smieskol tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnold Bauer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alwin Felden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Alwin Felden managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pöting FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alwin Felden was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnold Bauer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, FC Bayern München's Wofgang Schelp got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Alwin Felden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnold Bauer having to interfere. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pöting FC's goalkeeper Faruk Smieskol, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Stefan Breiffel came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the FC Bayern München fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stefan Breiffel couldn't finish the play. Arnold Bauer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Egon Kristl in the 90th minute of the match. Gero Partsch struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Faruk Smieskol didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Bayern München.
