Ashley Burgbacher made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Erko Kobel sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in SG Massen's zone, Erko Kobel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ashley Burgbacher came out of the goal and Erko Kobel tried to chip the ball over his head. Jakov Fleiner recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. SG Massen's Ashley Burgbacher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gordon Reumann in the 20th minute of play. Götz Schikorra stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Balthasar Korsus's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gordon Reumann in the 33rd minute of play forced SG Massen's goalkeeper Ashley Burgbacher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 35 minutes into the game, Alwin Gooß was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SG Massen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Colchester the free kick. In the 36th match minute, SG Massen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alwin Gooß to maneuver through the defense. FC Colchester's Erko Kobel got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Balthasar Korsus to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Balthasar Korsus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 53rd minute, Erko Kobel left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Colchester fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. If Erko Kobel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Götz Schikorra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Balthasar Korsus in the 61st minute of play. Gordon Reumann charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gordon Reumann the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 64 played minutes FC Colchester got a freekick which was hit by Gordon Reumann. Götz Schikorra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Balthasar Korsus in the 65th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Balthasar Korsus in the 67th minute of play forced FC Colchester's goalkeeper Götz Schikorra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Colchester's Götz Schikorra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save FC Colchester from getting a goal against them. Ashley Burgbacher showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erko Kobel in the 76th minute of the match. Götz Schikorra stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Balthasar Korsus's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. After 80 played minutes SG Massen got a freekick which was hit by Mauritz Jan Schmiederkal. Götz Schikorra made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Jakov Fleiner sent off a good shot on target. Jakov Fleiner could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Götz Schikorra made a huge save. 95 minutes into the game, Anselm Baumjohann was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Colchester's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SG Massen the free kick. A collision led to FC Colchester getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Anselm Baumjohann hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Balthasar Korsus's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Götz Schikorra was relentless in the 97th minute of the game. FC Colchester were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of SG Massen for a fine match.
