But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Binninger couldn't finish the play. Christian Gutmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ekkehard Eisel having to interfere. Karsten Rechmüller's late challenge caught a Berlin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 70 minutes of play, Opladener bv's Wilhelm Wörner made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joachim Mackscheidt was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 73rd match minute, Opladener bv was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Heinrich Vinkemeier to maneuver through the defense. Joachim Mackscheidt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karsten Rechmüller, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. 77 minutes into the game, Arne Pitz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Berlin's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Opladener bv the free kick.
